The northwest region of Florida, also referred to as the Florida Panhandle is a strip of land lying south of Georgia and Alabama and north of the Gulf of Mexico. The sixteen counties furthest west of Florida make up this northwest region and is considered to be tied to the Deep South by the historical culture and climate; different from the semi-tropical climate of the Florida Peninsula.

The sixteen counties within the Northwest region of Florida are Bay County, Calhoun County, Escambia County, Franklin County, Gadsden County, Gulf County, Holmes County, Jackson County, Jefferson County, Leon County, Liberty County, Okaloosa County, Santa Rosa County, Wakulla County, Walton County, and Washington County.
